The year is 2001. While San Francisco sits as picturesque and fog ridden as ever, and patriotism sweeps the nation, the Charmed Ones are in the midst of a full on war with the Source of All Evil. One afternoon, Prue, Piper and a prominent doctor very nearly met their end at the hands of Shax, the Source's personal assassin. However before the fatal blows could be landed, Cole shimmered in and blasted the wind demon, effectively weakening him and frightening him away... for the moment.
The three sisters are now in the process of hunting said demon, warned by Cole not to do battle with him in the open. The sisters are somewhat suspicious of Cole's sudden turn around, as what seemed like mere moments ago, he was under the sway of the dread demon Raynor, a witch's innocent blood on his hands. He assures them that Raynor has been vanquished, insisting that his power wasn't enough to hold sway.
The truth is far stranger than any of them could imagine. Faced with a future without the love of his life, Cole, with the powers of an Avatar, has traveled back in time to save Prue's life, hoping the original power of three would be enough to save him from the sway of evil, to save him from himself.
Elsewhere in San Francisco, something is awakening within social work assistant Paige Matthews. Fate is calling... how will she answer?
