so baby could you show me what it's like? lissy had never been especially fond of reading. but she was still taking online college courses, which required papers to be written and research to be done. the girl loathed libraries; they were much too quiet. so she'd quickly found the books she needed and gotten the hell out of that place. being new york, it'd been a little busier than she'd expected it to be at 10 o'clock at night. but then again, wasn't new york the place that never slept or something? lissy frowned slightly to herself, holding her books under her arm as she walked along the sidewalk. she wasn't exactly sure if she remembered the way back to the venue, and the tour buses. to her home away from home. well, lissy would just have to wing it. she'd left her phone at the bus, hidden away in her stuff and shut off. her mother had began to call repeatedly, checking up on her; making sure she took her medicine, blah blah blah.
of course lissy took her medicine. it helped her feel better, why wouldn't she take it? lissy let a small sigh escape her lips as she continued to walk. it was an especially chilly night. the girl wasn't fond of the cold, and once more, she frowned a bit. lissy lifted a thin hand to her hair, brushing her bangs out of her eyes. it was kind of loud, with all the cars passing and everything. but lissy figured it was better than the quiet that had enveloped her in the library; making her feel uncomfortable. lissy stopped at a light, waiting for a few moments before it was safe to cross. she crossed at a half-run half-walk pace, feeling uncomfortable with all the cars watching her. as soon as she was across the street, she slowed back down to a walk, still trying to remember where exactly it was that she was going. should she keep going straight? was there a turn? had she missed it? lissy bit down on her bottom lip, then swallowed hard. you can do this, liss. it can't be too hard. you managed to get here, why couldn't you get yourself back? she thought to herself.
the directions. of course! lissy had had directions written down on a piece of paper. where was that piece of paper? had she thrown it out? no, she couldn't have. lissy was smarter than that... or was she? the girl stopped at an open bench, opening all the books to look for the paper. she finally happened upon the small slip, and held it up triumphantly. but that was just such a bad idea. the wind blew the paper out of her grasp, and it floated into the street, and lissy watched as it was run over by several cars. lissy groaned, sitting down on the bench. the world wasn't in her favor for that day. "this is just fucking great." lissy muttered, sighing heavily. she sat back in the bench, trying to remember what the directions said; without much luck. lissy wasn't even sure of the time anymore; it had to be getting really late. she was beginning to regret leaving her phone back at the bus. what had she been thinking? lissy took a deep breath, before standing up and picking up her books. she began to walk once more, trying to have some sort of confidence in her memory of how she'd gotten to where she was in the first place.

It wasn’t like he choose to just stepped away from his family, he just had to. He wanted to go somewhere with his life, he didn’t want to move from base to base. His father’s face was a frown the way he told him that he wasn’t fulfilling his father’s dream. It just wasn’t for Ralph, he wasn’t into the whole idea of fighting. He had other things in mind, no more like other places in mind. He was sure of the lecture that was to come that day but it had to be said. He was called a lot of names in the book, but a let down was his biggest and that day it was it came out. His father had so many plans for him, even bragged about his interest and how he would be just like his father. Well, turns out he knew so little about his son now. For not long after his leaving, he became a member of the famous world.
Well, of course little things came with being in the spot light. For instance, he had tried to slip out off the bus and go a little grocery shopping. He had turned into mister mom soon enough of being in the band, no one seemed to stock the shelves like Ralph. He made sure to pick a variety, so everyone had what they wanted and more. It wasn’t too hard to feed all these guys and a girl, junk food and a little veggies. Just incase they had a healthy binge, someone of rare occasions. He always like to imitate bugs bunny with carrots, just to see people laugh or roll there eyes. Nothing was ever lame about cartoon, hmm maybe he would get a video game at the store. His legs carried him along the streets of New York, watching the passing people through his sunglasses. Not like it hid much, he was still Ralph Weller, lead singer for lovelikepoetry. He would never be the same guy, he didn’t mind it so much. But, of course, who likes being stalked or followed during a everyday ritual of just roaming or shopping.
He watched a frustrated girl, a slip of paper falling from her little hands. She couldn’t be far from his legal age, but only words could tell. He paused as she got up, grabbing books, smart girl? He placed the groceries on the sidewalk, then daringly approached the street. He swiped up the piece of paper, glancing over the contents. The venue…his eyes widened, looking back up to spot the girl. She worked on the tour, he raced over to his bags, swinging them up and ran towards her. He stopped, trying to not seem like a creepy stalker or anything, slowly approaching from behind. He stopped just as they met, ” I…believe…you…dropped this.” Panting between ever word, gosh he should be so much more fit, he danced around for a living. He tried to stand at pace with her, ” I..um…see we’re going the same way.” Giving her a brief smile, then looked ahead. He always pictured himself running into a sign in a presence of a girl or something, make a complete fool of himself. ” I’m Ralph, and you?’

so baby could you show me what it's like? lissy continued to walk, her pace slower than normal as she tried to remember where she even was. fuck, why did the wind have to blow her saviour out of her hands? she held her books tight to her, the breeze a little too cold for her liking. the girl shivered, then swallowed hard. she still wasn't sure where she was... lissy was entirely and utterly clueless. she looked to the side, hearing a voice. she stopped, putting a hand on his arm to stop him as well. knowing her, and how cute this kid was, she wouldn't be paying attention to where she was walking and would probably fall or something stupid along those lines. she looked down at the paper in his hand, her eyes widening considerably. it was her directions. this boy was officially her saviour. she chuckled quietly. she recognized the kid, he was on the tour. but she'd never known his name. just as she opened her mouth to ask him what his name was, he spoke again.
"i'm ralph, and you?" lissy felt her heart stop. it couldn't be the ralph she'd known, all those years ago. it was impossible. okay, maybe not impossible, but pretty damn close. she studied the boy for a moment. she could recognize a couple of his features. lissy opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. instead, she just chuckled again. "ralph... oh-okay, i'm gonna take a shot in the dark here." she paused, biting her lip. "ralph... james... weller?" lissy asked. she was just waiting for the boy to call her crazy, give her her slip and walk away, thinking she was insane. her mind was going crazy, and her heart was pounding hopefully. she hoped it was him, of course she did. they'd practically been attached at the hip when they were kids. one had been rarely seen without the other, of course, that was when they lived on the same air force base.
their friendship hadn't lasted long, considering lissy's family moved away. but they'd had a good run, a couple years or so. it had been one of the longer periods of time of staying in one place. but of course ralph had always strayed into her thoughts upon occasion. actually, as she got older, more and more. she couldn't help but wonder how he'd grown up. what he liked, what he didn't like, and if they'd even get along anymore. lissy had always secretly hoped and dreamed she'd run into him someday, but she'd always doubted it would actually happen. now those hopes were back, and stronger than ever. it seemed her dreams were coming true. was she being reunited with her childhood best friend? lissy awaited his reaction, and the seconds suddenly felt hours to the girl.

His eyes lit up as she blurted out his full name, he has just said his first name. What did the this girl already know of his history. He looked her over, praying she wasn’t a stalker or hoping she was a good fan. Then it clicked; the long black hair, her hazel eyes, he recalled her small figure. It was this girl, someone whom he was super close to in his younger years. But, what was her name again? He paused, then gave her a smile. ” well, well, miss felicity. Little felicity summers. “ He pulled her into a hug, something of a “oh-my-gosh-don’t-leave.” He let go, trying not to show clingy of any sort. He couldn’t believe she was here, cause it had been years for sure.
They were best friends, childhood partners in crime. But, she was one of this friends that didn’t quite stay long, he was used to it though. He lived on a base, so people were coming and going, being transferred here and there. It seemed that it wasn’t till this band that he had any remotely close friends, but it was just a thing that would involved in life. But, she was by far, his most favorite person to have met, someone whom stuck in his mind. She was just simply so funny and they were like two peas in a pod. It sure killed him the day her father was transferred to another base, but he hugged her like he would see her sometime soon. Little to his knowledge, it would be many, many years later. She still looked cute, but when your little, girls have cooties.
He had been curious as to what she was going through, he was happy his father hadn't moved much. Which was odd but to be uprooted from everything and be send elsewhere, that had to be hard as hell. He missed her while she was gone but figured it was only time before he was replaced. I mean, felicity was extremely nice back then, he hoped time hadn't changed her. But, judging by her reaction to his introduction, she would always be little Lissy. There was a rock band called thin Lizzy, but he would always change it to her name. Not being mean but it was something he always did to make her laugh. " Your on tour?! What band you with? " He didn't want to prood her to open up, but it was sure as hell good to see her. He started walk, he now didn't care about making a fool. They were childish fools before, nothing could change that. Best friends didn't change in time and he was sure they're past would make that official.

so baby could you show me what it's like? lissy grinned. she was glad she hadn't been wrong in her assumption about who he was. "well, well, miss felicity. little felicity summers." she felt her heart pounding inside her chest still, but now from the thrill of seeing her childhood friend. as he pulled her into a hug, she hugged him back tightly, reluctantly pulling back when he did. there was no doubt, ralph had grown up nicely. as sad as it was, lissy could still remember the day she'd left the base she'd been at with ralph like it had been just a couple days before. her mother had always joked that the two would grow up and fall in love; a concept that had made lissy's brother, nicky, almost start to hate her best friend. nicky had always been protective. but lissy had gotten used to that.
felicity could only hope that he was the same ralph. she was mostly the same lissy, just a little more... secretive. her time spent in hawaii had been one of the most frightening times of her life, and it had definitely changed her. not too drastic, she didn't want people to worry about her well-being, but there was a small change. she was still the overall sweetheart she'd always been. sure, it was mostly because of her anti-depressant, but no one really knew that. she always took her medicine in secret, and kept it hidden away from everyone's prying eyes. she'd always wished ralph had been there through that period of her life, maybe it would've made it easier. maybe he would've figured it out sooner than her mother had and would've done something. and then maybe it wouldn't have been so difficult.
ralph had always teased her for her small stature. but then again, everyone had. she was a pretty small girl, even now at age twenty one. she hadn't ever really cared about the teasing, because it was all true. she smiled as she now remembered ralph had always called her "thin lissy", after the rock and roll band "thin lizzy". "you're on tour?! what band you with?" as he spoke, he started to walk again. lissy pulled her books back to her side, shifting them slightly as she threaded her arm through his to keep up with his walking pace. "i'm actually the photographer for telescope eyes. god, all this time, we were practically reunited, but we didn't even know it." she said, laughing quietly. it was really quite silly. all this they could've been catching up. she'd always felt like he was a familiar face, when she'd first seen lovelikepoetry play on stage. but she'd never really taken the chance to find out why. well, now she knew. it was crazy how life worked out.
but there he was. ralph james weller. her childhood friend. lissy suddenly missed the little town of wilkes-barre, pennsylvannia. as a child, she'd enjoyed it there. she didn't remember much of it, considering most of her time was spent on the air force base, with ralph and her family. but from what she did remember, she had loved it. of course, her views would probably change now that she had grown up.

Gosh, what as coincidence? In the same place at the same time, well tour together. But, it wasn’t as a band thing, but like old friends again. He was so happy to see her, there was never a bad thing said about lissy around his house when he was younger. I think it was agreed that the kids were bound to be together in the end, up until the day she left. Probably the saddest day of his life, he knew it was probably the end of this amazing friendship that day. Seeing as he lived on one base and she would be elsewhere, they would have no connection and were too young to travel to visit. He would of went to see her in a heartbeat but never knew where to start, that was all his mistake. Never trying harder to get her new location address. Well, if that was even possible, being as the strictness of certain bases. Places were very protective as to who got the address and location status, he remembered when his dad was on tour in Europe. He didn’t receive the address ever and it scared him to think that maybe he was gone.
That was something that scared him about enlisting, he would have to go through that ordeal of feeling no connection to the outer world. No one knowing where you were or if you were hurt for weeks at a time, it was just something that was actually a idea that he avoided. And if he got killed or his father did, one of them would defiantly go insane or probably off someone. The pain of losing a loved one, that was music in the making and having to just jolt it down for a later date. He couldn’t live without his guitar nor the hum of the radio in the morning.
He felt her arm join with his, a smile crossing his face as he looked over at her. ” i’m actually the photographer for telescope eyes. god, all this time, we were practically reunited, but we didn't even know it." Ever so true, they could of already been fluent in each other if it were for either of them opening there mouths. It was probably his fault though, he had spotted the very attractive jet black hair walking around but hesitated to talk. Nerds were never good at the conversation, but he had told hoss and landen about the female, both of them joking at him. ” I did spot a interesting female around the stage but little did I know it was you. Gosh lissy, when did you grow up? “ He joked with her, the worst response on his part. Mentally killing himself for that remark, ” I mean damn, those boys got there hands full.” He winked, a little better Ralph, a little.

i am still painting flowers for you. lissy really couldn't believe this all was happening. the girl was just waiting to open her eyes and wake up to to be on the tour bus, this whole reunion just being an extremely good dream that was just meant to tease felicity with her fantasies of finding her childhood friend. it certainly didn't feel like she was dreaming, the butterflies filling her stomach just felt too real for this to be a dream. the only person who hadn't taken too fondly to ralph in her house was nick, but then again that was just because nick was protective. and there was no doubt in lissy's mind that he really wouldn't like ralph now. after everything that had happened with her father, nicholas had just been way more protective. lissy had learned to just ignore it. if it had been in lissy's power, her and her family would've stayed in wilkes-barre, pennsylvannia. with ralph and his family. maybe then, he would just know everything. they wouldn't need to catch up. they certainly had a lot of it to do, though lissy's stomach twisted into a huge knot as she thought about if she was going to tell ralph about her father, and if she was, how was she supposed to tell him something like that?
but all her worries and troubles melted away as she looked back up at her old friend. the butterflies returned, inhabiting her insides as she smiled at ralph. she felt her cheeks grow slightly warm as ralph commented about how she'd grown up. "the girls have got their hands full as well. look at you, you stud." felicity joked, nudging his side playfully. she grinned now, chuckling quietly as he winked. "oh, we're winking now? are you trying to hit on me, ralph?" lissy teased, smirking softly. "so now that i've told you what i'm doing here, what are you doing here, on tour? like, what band are you with?" she asked, even though she already knew. lissy was pretty familiar with lovelikepoetry's music. she'd seen their set a couple times, whenever she was hanging out after telescope eyes' set, whether it was with friends or alone. she often stayed after with kaela. she kept her arm linked through ralph's looking straight ahead so she shouldn't run into another person.
she stopped at the edge of a road, cars driving across. when ralph kept walking, lissy pulled him back. "trying to get yourself killed, ralph?" lissy said with a laugh, shaking her head slightly.

His cheeks turned a bit red, he looked away, hiding his lame embarrassment. No girl was really eying him, well that he thought. They were all in it for a relationship but found him well, lacking in the boyfriend material. He was that typical boy, just wanting to play video games. No, he was not a virgin though, he wouldn’t live in that bus if he had not lost it yet. The guys would have a field day, similar to the one that they had when they found about his first crush. It was something so innocent, thought it never left the crush level. He wasn’t really focusing on the girl factor either, he knew his girl was out there but he was more into the music life. Working hard to prevent his personality being turned into a fame prick. His self being sucked in the thought that, ‘I’m famous why do I care?’ How could anyone see so rude to there peers.
When she nudged him, his thoughts cleared and his eyes re focused on the path ahead. Shit, he hoped that he didn’t get them lost. He glanced up at the street sign, oh they weren’t far at all. ” oh um something was in my eye,” laughing as he smiled at her. ” I’m with lovelikepoetry, making our way around the world, one city at a time. “ Give a laugh, it was probably his dream job but still had yet to take it serious. He often just saw it as just living with his best friends or just throwing together a show for some locals. It was never nerve racking for him, so it just came easy after a while. ” So, how’s the family? “ He had so much to relearn about her and often wondered, where they had settled. His father was over in Afghanistan for the year, leaving his family once again. Ralph received a call from his mother the other day, pleading for him to come home. She needed her family back together and saw that his career was once again, just a dream. Leaving Ralph once again, upset about her views on what he was doing with his life. Then there was his siblings, Kenny was actually following his father, making there mother nervous. All her kids were getting older and Ralph had to remind her of that. He felt him being pulled back, ” shit! Sorry. “ He frowned, what an idiot.
He watched as the buses got closer, god that was fast and he felt like they learned nothing. Well except that whole ' your with this band, I'm here.' Wow, he needed to talk more, hello long time friend right in front of you. Failure. He smiled at her, they would just have to get close and she could be his savior more often. She wouldn't be anywhere near the venue, nor would he have found his friend. Today was actually a grand day, go ralph.

i am still painting flowers for you. lissy laughed as he tried to make an excuse as to why he had winked at her. she let the matter go, smiling up at him. it was a little hard not to smile around him, she had always found, because he was always smiling and it was contagious. even as little kids, he had always been happy and smiling, making lissy almost the exact same way. she smiled again, listening to him talk about who was with on tour, which of course, she already knew. she had seen a couple of lovelikepoetry's sets, and had rather enjoyed them. lissy had even taken a few photographs of the band, though the main subject had definitely been ralph. little had she known then, that he was ralph james weller. her childhood friend. he reminded her of a much simpler time, when her father wasn't so angry and abusive and her family had been so happy. which was why lissy looked away when he asked about her family. she chuckled nervously, then bit down on her bottom lip.
she shrugged, still biting down on her lip. "there was a point in time when my brother wasn't with us... he, uh, ran away for a couple years." lissy said, figuring she'd start there, and state the facts, but completely leave out the fact that her father was in jail and why he was in jail. "but he came back, and he lives with my mom and dad in hawaii. my dad hurt his ankle, so he was forced to resign from the air force. but uh... yeah. last time i checked, everyone was okay." felicity said, only lying partially. her dad had hurt his ankle, but he didn't live with her mom and brother. no, he was in jail for the next 15 years. the last time she'd checked, her mother hadn't been all that okay, always constantly worrying about how lissy was doing. nick was the exact same way, and lissy would be lying if she said she didn't miss her beloved twin brother and her somewhat neurotic mother. then again, krista had always been slightly neurotic, always over-thinking everything and worrying about the smallest of details. neither of her children had really adopted those qualities, considering lissy had never really worried about anything other than her father getting out of jail. nick only worried about his sister, but other than that, was fairly carefree.
as the tour buses got more and more into lissy's line of sight, she frowned slightly. her books were still held to her side, now reminding her of her damn research paper that she was supposed to be working on. she kept walking, before nearing telescope eyes' bus. she stopped, turning to face ralph with a small frown. "i, uh... i guess i should leave you. but uhm, i can give you my number if you ever want to call or text to catch up or something." she said, smiling a little bit now. of course they would see each other more often, now that she knew he was on tour with her. lissy set her books down on the ground, digging through her pocket for a pen. she finally happened upon one, taking his hand and writing her number down on his palm in her neat handwriting. she said a quiet goodbye, picking up her books and reluctantly walking inside the tour bus.
